The Ecostrad Heatglo is suitable for DIY installation and must be plugged into a socket with an appropriate IP rating. For permanent fitting outsite, a professional electrician is required to hardwire the heater to the mains of your property.
The Heatglo comes with flexible brackets for mounting the heater to the wall or ceiling and includes a 45° rotation in each direction. It is important to ensure that the Heatglo is installed more than 180cm above the floor and 40cm away from the ceiling or any adjacent walls. Our patio heaters also include a UK fitted plug, giving the option of an adjustable freestanding unit when used with a compatible stand.
The Ecostrad Heatglo comes with an IPX4 rating which means that it is protected from water splashes from any direction, however, we do recommend installing this patio heater under a shelter to ensure extra protection against harsher weather conditions. If you are looking to heat more exposed areas, you may require a patio heater with a higher protection rating.

How does infrared heating work?
Most heating products work by using either convection or radiation. Products like panel heaters or fan heaters provide warmth in the form of a cycle of warm air rising and falling, but as you might imagine, this type of heat doesn’t work well in outdoor applications where warm air quickly dissipates to cooler areas.
Radiant heat doesn’t have this issue – it works by travelling through the air in a wave, directly warming people and objects that it comes into contact with. This makes infrared heaters particularly effective for hard-to-heat interiors or open outdoor spaces as they will always project heat to where it’s needed. The type of heat they provide is just like the warmth felt from the sun’s rays and can make your outdoor seating areas a comfortable haven even if the ambient air temperature is less than ideal.
